Jao Tsung-I Academy, with the generous support of The Lord Wilson Heritage Trust, has launched the "Interpreting and Understanding Hong Kong History: An In-Depth Guided Tour Project. The project’s two field study tours have been successfully completed. To mark the conclusion of the project, a public lecture on historical interpretation for Guided Tour will be held.
In an age dominated by social media, "snapshot culture" has become the shortcut for the public to get to know about a city. However, as urban landscapes vanish due to development and historical interpretations become increasingly fragmented, on-site field trips and guided tours have become essential for rediscovering Hong Kong’s history.
We are honoured on this occasion to have invited Professor Ting Sun Pao to draw upon his decades of academic research and extensive experience in leading guided tours. Joined by Dr Joyce So, we will be exploring the significance of field trips and guided tours through three dimensions: manifestation, curation, and inheritance. Furthermore, participants from the project will be invited to share their perspectives on the challenges, opportunities, and aspirations of the guided tour sector in Hong Kong.
